The official OREBA III website identifies the Third International Conference on Olivines for Rechargeable Batteries in Montreal on 6–8 July 2025, powered by Volt-Age and held in memory of John B. Goodenough. The published agenda places registration on 6 July and scientific sessions on 7 and 8 July. [1] [2]

OREBA.org is an independent publication. The official OREBA III website provides organizer information; this page is a historical and scientific reference to the 2025 event.

Official records and organization

The official site provides separate conference agenda and organizer pages. The organizer page identifies the conference co-chair team, including Karim Zaghib. These records describe the conference organization, not the authorship or governance of this publication. [2] [3]

The dates refer to a completed event. Historical registration information, where still displayed by the original site, should be understood in that context. A later conference requires a new official announcement; this publication does not infer one from the existence of the series.

Scientific program

The agenda connects olivine chemistry with degradation, service assessment and solid-state designs. Selected scheduled subjects include:

Scheduled subjectRelated OREBA.org reading
Jeff Dahn on high-temperature LFP/graphite cellsLFP cell degradation
Bor Yann Liaw on service-life assessmentAgeing outcomes and test conditions
Venkataraman Thangadurai on solid-state lithium-metal batteriesSolid-state interfaces
Jagjit Nanda on olivine-based solid-state batteriesOlivines in composite solid-state cathodes
Atsuo Yamada on alluaudite and post-olivine directionsFrameworks and chemistry boundaries

These descriptions paraphrase agenda subjects. They establish what was scheduled for discussion and do not verify experimental outcomes, unpublished measurements or commercial readiness. [2]

The connections are useful for following a technical question through the literature. A service-life topic leads to measurement protocols and degradation modes. A solid-state topic leads to the compatibility and contact problems of a composite electrode. The underlying papers remain the evidence for those mechanisms.

Remembering John B. Goodenough

The official site dedicates the event to Goodenough’s memory. The Nobel Prize’s 2019 Chemistry announcement records his joint recognition with M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino for lithium-ion battery development. These are distinct historical facts: the award documents his scientific contribution, while the conference site documents the event’s dedication. [1] [4]

Goodenough was also a co-author of the foundational phospho-olivine paper discussed in the LFP reference, and the OREBA 1.0 programme lists his tribute to Michel Armand in 2014.

Following conference subjects into the literature

The publications library distinguishes peer-reviewed papers, reviews and conference records. A title in an agenda can guide a reading search; a scientific conclusion needs its method, data and limitations. The events page separates completed meetings from upcoming dates verified against official sources.
